The Tjoscha (Russian Тёша ) is a 311 km long right tributary of the Oka in the European part of Russia.

Description

The Tjoscha rises slightly south of Lukojanow in the south of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast. It flows through the city and then turns to the northwest. Shortly before she takes on the Arzamas Aksha from the left. After passing Arsamas, it bends into predominantly Western directions.

Below the confluence of the creek Lemet the Tjoscha starts very strongly meandering. In this area, the river has numerous oxbow lakes. After she has taken the Schilokscha, she turns at Kulebaki north.

Just below the confluence of the Serjoscha, its largest tributary, the Tjoscha bends turn off to the west. Soon after, she leads northwest of Murom coming from the right in the Oka, which forms the border between the Nizhny Novgorod Oblast and Vladimir oblast here.

The river is usually frozen until the end of March / beginning of April by the end of November / beginning of December.
