Type Directors Club

The Type Directors Club (TDC ) is an international association for the promotion of typography in all its forms. It was created in 1946 from an informal meeting of New York Agenturtypografen, seat is New York City.

The German Committee German Liaison Committee of the Type Directors Club of New York, based in Mainz has existed since 1983. Additional committees exist in France, Japan, Great Britain, Mexico, Vietnam and Switzerland.

In addition to the alignment of typography annual competitions of the Type Directors Club awards at irregular intervals, the Type Directors Club Medal. It recognizes individuals and institutions who have made ​​an outstanding contribution to the development of typography.

The Annual of the Type Directors Club awards the best works and applies in addition to the Type Directors Club Medal as an additional award. It presents typographic work, font designs and in recent years also purely typographic applications in space and in interface design.
