Tyrone Downie

Tyrone Downie ( born 1957 in Jamaica) is a Jamaican keyboardist, pianist, organist, synthesizer player and arranger. Downie is primarily known for his keyboard playing at the Jamaican reggae singer Bob Marley and his band The Wailers from 1974. Except for 1975 and 1977 had Downie permanently in the worldwide spread of Reggae Marley and the Wailers through until his death in 1981. In addition, Downie was also involved with Peter Tosh, Burning Spear and Sly & Robbie.

After Marley's death, Downie turned increasingly against other projects; In 2001 he played again for the first time with the Wailers concert. Meanwhile Downie, who completed a classical piano studies at a conservatory, has made itself a name as a pianist. He now lives in France.

Downie played keyboards and synthesizer on Marley's Natty Dread albums (1974 ), Rastaman Vibration (1976 ), Kaya (1978 ) Babylon By Bus (1978), Survival (1979) and Uprising (1980).
