Tysvær is a municipality in the Norwegian Rogaland. The administrative center is located in Aksdal. The community is centrally located in the countryside Haugaland.

Tysvær bordered to the north and Sveio Vindafjord and to the west of Haugesund. The largest mountain in the municipality is called Lammenuten (631 moh. ). The coastline of the municipality is 220 km long.

Traffic

The local center Aksdal located about 13 kilometers southeast of Haugesund. Aksdal is a traffic intersection. Here are the year-round navigable E134 take over Haukeli to Oslo and E 39, the coastal road between Bergen and Stavanger, together. Aksdal features a cinema and a swimming pool.

History

Due to the poor living conditions in the region fell from a wave of emigration to America in the 19th century by Tysvær. Now a museum recalls the story ( " Travel til America ").
