Tyzzer's disease

The Tyzzer 's Disease (also Tyzzersche disease or short Tyzzer ) is piliforme by the bacterium Clostridium causes (formerly known as Bacillus piliformis ). This bacterium was discovered in 1917 by Ernest Edward Tyzzer ( 1875-1965 ), a professor at Harvard Medical School discovered and classified.

Pathogen

Clostridium piliforme has a wide host range. It infects rabbits, laboratory rodents, wild rodents, pets, and several other non- rodent -like animals. Case reports have in common that mainly young animals are affected, or were immunocompromised by another disease. The bacterium is transmitted seemingly on the intake of water and food or by the sleeping place of the animals.

Diagnosis

The diagnosis of Tyzzer is usually created by light microscopy, by autopsy the liver of the infected animal.
