Tzvi Pesach Frank

Zvi Pesach Frank (* 1873 in Kovno, Russian Empire, † December 10, 1960 in Jerusalem ) was a living since 1891 in Eretz Israel Jewish scholar, Posek and for several decades Chief Rabbi of Jerusalem.

Life

Since 1907 he was Dayan in Jerusalem and instrumental in the establishment of the Israeli Chief Rabbinate and in the appointment Kooks for the first Ashkenazi chief rabbi.

He met many halachic fundamental decisions, which were often adopted as the official guideline of the Jerusalem Rabbinate.

Raw Frank is buried in the Har HaMenuchot. At his funeral - during all Batei Din remained closed and the Israeli cabinet interrupted his work to allow the ministers to participate - was attended by thousands people.
