The U Minh Thuong National Park ( Vietnamese Quốc gia U Minh Thuong Vuon ) is located in the southern Mekong Delta in Vietnam, in the province of Kien Giang. The surface area is 8053 hectares. Due to the high sulphate content of soils in the area are found mainly peat swamp forests. Dominant tree species Melaleuca cajuputi. The U Minh National Park consists of a mosaic of forest fragments, which are separated by rice fields and canals.

In the National Park many rare and endemic species occur. 226 vascular plant species have been discovered so far. 187 species of birds, rare otters, bats, squirrels, civets Stationary ( Viverra megaspila ), Malayan pangolin ( Manis javanica ) and reticulated pythons (Python reticulatus ) live in the reserve.

Are a result of the second Indochina war (among Agent Orange ) and the current strong population pressure from the outside and the forests are severely damaged. For example, by honey collectors on 26 April 2002, large parts have been destroyed by fire.
