U.S. Customs and Border Protection

The established on 1 March 2003, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (short: CBP to German as: " Customs and Border Protection of the United States ") is an institution under the authority of the Ministry of Internal Security of the United States who are established in Ronald Reagan Building, Washington, DC (1300 Pennsylvania Avenue).

History

Parts of the Immigration and Naturalization Service ( Department of Justice ) inclusive of the U.S. Border Patrol, the U.S. Customs Service ( Department of Treasury ) and parts of the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service ( Department of Agriculture) in particular: In the CBP, the following authorities were merged all border activities of the Agricultural Quarantine Inspection ( including the Beagle Brigade ) and the Plum Iceland Animal Disease Center.

The CBP is taking over 400 laws, including on behalf of more than 40 federal agencies.

By merging the authorities of the extent of immigration controls from two or three to one could be reduced ( "one-stop processing" ).

Order

Your task is to border control (especially regarding irregular migration ), the customs control, the fight against international drug trafficking and international terrorism, the commercial copyright and trademark protection and the protection of agriculture from entrained pests and fungi. The CBP 2007 had a budget of EUR 7.8 billion and employs over 58 724 employees (2010).

326 international seaports in the federal territory are monitored by the CBP, in addition there are 14 missions abroad. The latter are used mainly to enforce the Container Security Initiative. This is an established in 2002 approach the CBP to inspect cargo on ships already abroad, to be introduced in the United States.

Similar tasks, the Federal Authority United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement, which the Department of Homeland Security is also assumed.

Equipment

CBP A & M has over 500 pilots and 250 aircraft. There are helicopters in the pattern Sikorsky UH- 60 Blackhawk, Eurocopter AStar AS 350D and airplanes of type C -210, C -12 and Lockheed P -3 Orion (1 pcs. ) Used with radars. The Authority maintains the largest air fleet of police and Customs Organisation. The Authority has about 200 vessels of various types, which are the largest class of Midnight Interceptors with a length of 11.89 meters ( 39 feet ) above all else. Since September 2005, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs ) are of the type Elbit Systems Hermes 450 were tested at the US -Mexico border in Arizona in use that as part of the Unmanned Aircraft Systems Project ( unmanned aerial vehicle systems ) and introduced. Currently in addition there are four drones of the type Predator in use
