U.S. Route 57

U.S. Highway 57 ( U.S. 57 short ) is a United States highway that runs in a north -south direction in the state of Texas. He begins 80 km (50 mi ) south of San Antonio between Devine and Pearsall off Interstate 35, the section formerly part of U.S. Highway 81 and ends at Eagle Pass on the Rio Grande, where he is in Mexico for Mexican Federal Highway 57.

History

The highway was built in 1939 as a Texas State Highway 76. From 1942 to 1964, the eastern part has been designated as Farm to Market Road 394. In 1966, the road got the number 57 in line with the Mexican road to the border. As a United States Highway was officially stepped up in 1970 and awarded the street with a north-south direction, although it extends to a large extent in the east-west direction.
