U.S. Sambenedettese 1923

The SS Sambenedettese Calcio is an Italian football club from San Benedetto del Tronto, a town of the Marche region. The club colors are red and blue. As the stadium club serves the Stadio Riviera delle Palme in San Benedetto del Tronto, it can accommodate 22,000 spectators.

History

The club was founded in 1923 and took in the first years after the founding of the Terza Divisione part. In 1931 for the first time reached the summit in the Seconda Divisione. In the 1940s and 50s it was possible the club, located in the C series, the third highest Italian league to establish, and to play down to a short-term re- descent into the Prima Divisione continuously in the same league. 1956 won the team from San Benedetto del Tronto winning the Series C- Cup and then was allowed to compete for the first time in club history in Serie B. After each episode in the league could be achieved in six years, was relegated to the second last league again in the third-class series C the team at the end of the season 1962/63. The club placed afterwards in the next ten years each in the top ten teams in the league, but failed several times just outside the resurgence. Having previously three times the third rank was achieved in four years, the team was able to re- qualify in 1974 as First Place for the B series. There followed many mediocre seasons in Italy's second highest league.

Only in 1989 was followed by the following relegation to Serie C1, a fresh setback, a year later, the team do not hold the class and even slipped a league lower. After the direct promotion back to Serie C1 Sambenedettese won his first trophy in club history in 1992. The team won the victory in the Coppa Italia Semiprofessionisti. In two games while the AC Siena was defeated with a total score of 3-2 gates and retracted the Cup. The following years were the most difficult of the club's history. In 1994 the club was denied a license because of its inability to pay and thus to relegation to the Campionato Excellency, the second highest amateur league, sentenced for the first time. Thereafter, the Association changed its name to AS Sambenedettese Calcio.

The crew spent seven years in the amateur camp in 2001 succeeded the promotion in the C2 series. Only a year later, could be achieved by winning the league in the next ascent. The team could play in Serie C1 for the top places, but lost in the play- offs for promotion to Serie B in 2003 against Pescara Calcio 2005 against Napoli. A year later, the bankruptcy of the club was again known, but he was allowed to remain for the time being in the third highest league by six points deduction. In the 2008 /09 season the team got down on both sporting and financial way. The 16th place in the championship in the meantime in Lega Pro Prima Divisione renamed League was not enough to avoid relegation in the play- outs lost the team against Calcio Lecco.

The over-indebted club again received no license and was relegated to the amateur camp because of financial difficulties. After the 2009/10 season succeeded as First prize of Excellency Marche to rise again in the series D.
