U.S. Soccer Athlete of the Year

The title of U.S. Soccer Athlete of the Year will be awarded in the U.S. each year by the United States Soccer Federation. Sponsored this award is from the car manufacturer Chevrolet.

Since 1984, this award is presented to a male football player, since 1985 also to a female. Successful player is Abby Wambach with six awards before Mia Hamm ( five awards ) and for men Landon Donovan with four awards.

The U.S. soccer journalists draw every year since 1991 from the Honda Player of the Year. This award goes to a player of the U.S. national team. The winner of the award receives a Honda automobile. The latter is the more well-known in Germany Award, the winner is generally referred to as America's Footballer of the Year. This track was Landon Donovan so far received seven times.
