U80601

The U80601 is a replica of the Intel 80286 microprocessor by VEB Microelectronics " Karl Marx " Erfurt which was developed and produced by reverse engineering. It was developed in 1986 and produced from 1989 series. His model 80286 U80601 was fully compatible. First functional models were housed in a ceramic housing ( LCCC -68), the processors from the series production were delivered in PLCC -68 plastic package. This CPU has been developed, since the already known 16 bit CPU U8001 could not be used for the preparation of IBM-compatible personal computer in accordance with the AT standard.

It was used in the 3- processor variant ( U880, U8001 and U80601 ) of the computer P8000 Compact, the successor to the P8000. He should also be in the sequel to the EC1834, EC1835 the Robotron be used. As the series production had to contend with many difficulties, only very few processors of this type were ever built.
