The Ilyushin Il -214 (Russian Ильюшин Ил -214 ) is a toy in the development of the Russian transport aircraft manufacturer Ilyushin and the Indian manufacturer Hindustan Aeronautics (HAL ). The Russian project name is MTS, Mnogozelewoi transportny samoljot ( Многоцелевой транспортный самолёт ), for multi-purpose transport aircraft.

In addition to HAL, which takes 35% of the development, is involved as a third partner, the Russian aircraft manufacturer IRKUT.

The aircraft, An-26 and An-32 designed as a replacement for the aging Antonov An-12; In contrast to these, there should be a twin-engine jet aircraft. The Indian Air Force has filed a demand for 45 aircraft of this type; Russia is expected to demand of 100 units.

As yet, few technical details are known. So shall the aircraft with a maximum takeoff weight of 55 tonnes and have a maximum payload of 18.8 tonnes. The range in this case is 2500 km, with a reduced to 4.5 t payload there are 6000 km range possible. The maximum speed is set at 850 km / h cruising speed with 800 km / h.
