Uan Rasey

Uan Rasey ( born August 21, 1921 in Glasgow, Montana; † 26 September 2011 in Los Angeles, California ) was an American jazz trumpeter, who was a quarter of a century first trumpet in the studio orchestra of Metro -Goldwyn- Mayer ( MGM).

Life

Rasey, born in 1921 in Glasgow, Montana, began his career as first trumpeter for the Studio Orchestra by MGM in 1949 and played there until 1974, for almost every movie produced there, but also for other well-known film studios. Particularly well known Rasey was his trumpet solos in films such as An American in Paris ( 1951), Singin 'in the Rain (1952 ) and West Side Story.

In 2008 he gave an interview in Trying to Get Good: The Jazz Odyssey of Jack Sheldon, a documentary about jazz trumpeter Jack Sheldon.

Uan Rasey died a month after his 90th birthday.
