Ubaldo Caccianemici

Ubaldo Caccianemici († 1170 ) was an Italian cardinal.

About his parentage we know nothing certain. According to the report of Alphonsus Ciacconius († 1599) he was said to be a nephew of Lucius II from the family Caccianemici from Bologna, but this is not documented. He probably belonged to the Congregation of Canons Regular of S. Frediano di Lucca.

On May 19, 1144, Pope Lucius II named Cardinal Priest of S. Croce in Gerusalemme; as such he appears for the first time on 28 June 1144. 1147 he worked together with Cardinal Bishop Conrad of Sabina as papal legate in Farfa. In September 1159 he took part in the conflicting papal election, and stood on the side of Alexander III. ( 1159-1181 ). 1162 he was an observer of Alexander III. in Saint -Jean -de- Losne. After 1158 he held the office of archpriest of the Holy Roman Church. His death is not recorded, the last witness comes on 12 September 1170.
