UBC Botanical Garden and Centre for Plant Research

The UBC Botanical Garden is a botanical garden on the grounds of the University of British Columbia in the University Endowment Lands, an unincorporated area just west of the Canadian city of Vancouver. He is the oldest university botanical garden in the country, is 44 acres in size and has more than 8,000 different species of plants.

The interior is divided into several gardens; an alpine garden, an Asian garden, a fruit garden, a garden with native plants, a garden with medicinal plants and an arboretum.

Founded the Garden in 1916, when the botanist John Davidson moved its existing plant collection since 1912 on the campus. Since 1968, the Botanical Garden is located at its current central location; before the plants at several locations scattered throughout the campus grew. In 2002, the opening of the Centre for Plant Research (Centre for Plant Research ) was performed.

The UBC Botanical Garden also manages the Nitobe Memorial Garden, which is also located on the university campus, but is spatially separated.
