Considered Učka by the sea side

The Učka (Italian: Monte Maggiore) is a mountain range in Croatia. It is the largest mountain range on the eastern side of the Istrian peninsula. It is located near the city of Rijeka and Opatija above the Rivijera.

A part of the mountain massif stands as a nature park Učka under protection. Near the entrance to the tunnel Učka on the north side of the mountain there is the gorge Vela Draga.

The highest peak is the Vojak with an altitude of 1,401 m. Since 1911 there is a lookout tower. In good weather, there is a wonderful view of the Gorski Kotar Kvarner Bay, the islands of Cres, Krk and Losinj, the Velebit mountain range, the Cicarija, and the Julian Alps in Slovenia, to the Dolomites in Italy. Also located on the top of a launch pad for paragliders.

The refuge Crown Princess Stephanie was built jointly with F. Wilhelm Friedrich Sigmundt by the architect in 1897.
