Udiča

Udica is a municipality in the north-western Slovakia with 2178 inhabitants ( 31 December 2011) and belongs to Okres Považska Bystrica, Trenčín Region of a circle.

Geography

The municipality is located in a transverse valley of the Waag, the Púchovský Prelom at the mouth of the creek Marikovský creek into the river, which is stored in the reservoir Nosice here. North of the village rises the Javorníky. The center is located at an altitude of 282 m nm and is located eight kilometers from Považska Bystrica and 11 km from Púchov.

Administratively divided the community into the church parts Prosné, Udica and Upohlav.

History

Today's church was built in 1959 by the merger of places Malá Udica (Hungarian Kisudva, Kisugyics ) Okrut (Hungarian Vágköre ) and Velka Udica (Hungarian Nagyudva, Nagyugyics ). Okrut in 1955 was flooded during the construction of the dam. In the years 1976 or 1979, the places Upohlav and Prosné nor were added.

Udica was first mentioned in 1321 as duae willae Wdicha in writing, so as two separate places.
