Ugandan general election, 1958

The election of the Legislative Council in the Protectorate of Uganda in 1958 was the first election of the Legislative Council of the Protectorate Uaganda.

The elections were the biggest and the eponymous people of the land, the Ganda Ganda boycotted the striving for autonomy in their kingdom Luganda, which existed as a protectorate within the British colony of Uganda, and demanded elections for their own regional parliament.

The result of the election was a victory for the Uganda National Congress, five of the ten - won the seats in parliament - and that therefore 50 percent.
