The Uhlenkrug Stadium (also Uhlenkrug Stadium or Stadium on Uhlenkrug ) is a football stadium in Essen's city forest. It is used by the ETB Schwarz-Weiß Essen for home games in the football league the Lower Rhine and the FC Kray in the Football Regionalliga West.

History

The stadium was built in 1922 by Uhlenkrug ETB Schwarz-Weiß Essen after the lease for the previously used sports field at the Meisenburg had not been extended. At that time, 35,000 spectators could be accommodated in the stadium, of which 2,000 were on a platform of an iron design space. This construction was at a time when most states had at most a wooden stand, more than extraordinary. 1939, the stadium was expanded due to the success of the club. The capacity was then 45,000 ( including 2,400 in the stands ). After the Second World War began local rivals Rot-Weiss Essen, finishing off the black-white and took over the athletic supremacy in Essen. This sank the stadium into insignificance, until it finally had to be sold in 1973 for 1.4 million DM to the city of Essen.

Nevertheless, fell on the stadium, so it was blocked by the DFB in 1975 for second-division games. Thus, the black-and- whites had (at that time in the Bundesliga 2 ) their home games at Essen Grugastadion unsubscribe. Nowadays the stadium has come resurfaced after all that can take place the games in the NRW-Liga therein. Through various alterations ( reduction of standing areas, fencing and a private entrance to the guest area, etc.), it has been adapted to the requirements of the Association for the NRW-Liga. The capacity of the venue consequently decreased to 9,950 seats.

The attendance record in Uhlenkrug stadium stands at 45,000. He was set up at the match between Germany and Luxembourg (4:1) on 23 December 1951.
