Ukhrul is a place in the state of Manipur in northeastern India. It is the administrative seat of the district of Ukhrul. Ukhrul is located approximately 80 kilometers north-east of Manipur capital Imphal in the mountains in the north east of Manipur. The site stretches from north to south on a ridge and is situated on over 1,800 meters above sea level.

The area of Ukhrul is inhabited by Tangkhul, a Naga tribe. Most of the inhabitants are Christians. In relation to the debate on the political integration of Naga minority in Manipur, the struggles partly by force for the independence or a connection to the neighboring Federal State of Nagaland, the Nationalist Congress Party promised in the run-up to the parliamentary elections in Manipur in 2012, in the case of an election victory Ukhrul to make the second capital of the state.
