Ukk

Ukk is a municipality in the small area Sümeg, located in Veszprém county in western Hungary.

Location

The municipality is situated on the southern edge of the Marcalbeckens. The nearest towns are Gógánfa, Megyer Rigács and Zalagyömörő. Ukk is on the main road 84 and is a railway junction.

History

The first written mention of the village dates back to 1268th In the early Middle Ages it was also listed as Uggyemerev or Ukkgyömörő. In 1725 the church was at the instigation of the monks living there built. However, the main altar, statues and pulpit of the church came back to the year 1674th

Infrastructure

There is a post office, library, mayor's office, a Roman Catholic church and the sports club Ukk Tömegsport Egyesülete on site.
