Ukraine national rugby union team

The Ukrainian Rugby union team represents Ukraine in the sport of Rugby Union. It belongs to the third class strength ( third tier ). In 1991, the first time a Ukrainian national rugby team in an international game. She is playing in Division 1B of the European Nations Cup. Previously, the team played as part of the Soviet Union and the Commonwealth of Independent States. So far, the Ukrainians could not qualify for a world championship itself.

History

1936 Rugby Union Association of the Soviet Union was founded. Until 1991, the Ukrainian team was part of this association. On 21 November 1991, the Ukrainian national team played the first official match in its history against Georgia, which was lost with 15:19. Three days later, the team was defeated again the Georgians with 0:6. The first win was in 1993 against Hungary with 41:3. Thus a winning streak started, were beaten in the Croatia, Slovenia and Austria.

The World Cup in France missed the team, as they lost all ten games in the fourth qualifying round. In the play-offs both comparisons against Russia were lost with 11:25 and 17:37 again.
