Ukrainian Democratic Alliance for Reform

The Ukrainian Democratic Alliance for Reforms (Ukrainian Український Демократичний Альянс за Реформи, abbreviation UDAR, ukr. / Rus. Blow for ), is a liberal and pro-EU party in Ukraine. It was founded in 2010 by professional boxer, and multiple world heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko, who holds the office of party chairman. The goals of UDAR the modernization of Ukraine and bringing the country closer to the EU were called. The party is supported by the German Konrad Adenauer Foundation.

For the parliamentary elections in 2012 UDAR operating an intensive campaign and positioned itself clearly as an opposition party. Klitschko distanced himself during the campaign repeatedly shown by the ruling Party of Regions and the Communist Party from and entered into a collaboration with these parties after the election from explicitly. UDAR reached 13.9% of the vote and went with 40 deputies in the Verkhovna Rada. So the party was the third largest parliamentary group.

From the beginning of the protests in Ukraine 2013 UDAR formed together with the nationalist Svoboda party Oleh Tjahnybok and the All-Ukrainian Union " Fatherland" of former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko oppositional tripartite alliance that campaigned for the resignation of the President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych.
