Ukranenland

Ukranenland is an archaeological open-air museum in Torgelow ( Western Pomerania), sponsored by the Ukranenland - eV Past workshops Facilities experimental archeology is one of the early medieval Slavic Village " Ukranenland ", an information center near the village, the high medieval building complex " Castrum Turglowe " next to the. club's hostel in Torgelow and a shipyard to build a cog in Ueckermuende. A substantial part of the museum's concept is based on the most authentic representation of life at that time by employees (see " Living History " )

Slavic Village Ukranenland

The early medieval Slavic Village Museum Ukranenland is 1.7 kilometers south of Torgelow, away from settlements and roads, on a Wiesenaue between a forest and the Uecker. According to archaeological findings here Slavic block, post and Flechtwandhäuser the 9th and 10th century, reconstructed in its original size. On the land side, surrounded by a wooden palisade is located towards the river a jetty for the two historic ships Svarog ( design 900 ) and Svantevit ( construction in 1100 ). In addition to a flock of sheep, a horse and a dog about twelve permanent employees are present in historical costumes in the village. All employees speak at least a historic craft, including bronze casting, pottery or forged. The Try and do it yourself is an essential part of the educational concept. Other crafts include, without limitation Braiding, felting, weaving, carving, baking and leather processing. In addition, the own music group " Cantilena " is part of the Ukranenland. In addition to musical performances, the musicians explain the various historical instruments or demonstrate how they are made. Special highlights are the historic market days, which take place from spring to autumn.

Medieval Centre Castrum Turglowe

In Castrum Turglowe, which was built next to the few surviving foundation walls and inaccessible, buried rooms of a castle in the center Torgelow, high medieval ways of life are presented. Here are some presumable functional buildings of the former castle were reconstructed on the basis of archaeological reference material. A restored villa from the 1920s, which was built on the ruins of the castle and is now a museum also part of the Castrum. As in the Slavic Village and the Castrum of employees is revived in medieval garb, showing off the various crafts and activities. Each year there is a medieval festival medieval center. From the Castrum, a footpath leads along the Uecker to Slavic Village.

A simplistic own hostel is next to the Castrum.

The facilities of the Ukranenlandes are open from late April to late October.

Networks

History

In 1991, the idea for the construction of historical workshops. It was followed by 1993, the foundation of the association. From 1995 to 1997, the Slavic Village was built on the Uecker, which has since been operated regularly. The plans for the Castrum Turglowe began in 2000. Too, in the following years were extensions of the two historic facilities instead. 2005, the newly built hostel and passed 2006, the restored villa from the town of Torgelow to the association.
