Ulbroka

Ulbroka is a place in Latvia on the eastern outskirts of Riga. Here is novads the administrative center of Stopinu.

History

The place is named after H. von Ulenbrock, who was mayor of Riga in the 16th century and received an estate here. The Red Army operation here is a large message center with associated radio masts.

In the vicinity there are natural gypsum deposits that were recycled in 1913 in a plaster factory.

Stopinu novads

The community was founded in 2004 Stopini without area change for Stopinu novads. ( See also: Administrative divisions of Latvia ). The main towns are Ulbroka, Sauriesi, Upeslejas, Dreiliņi and Stopini. Of the 9908 inhabitants ( 1 July 2010) are 55% Latvian and 33% Russian and Belarusian 5%. 53% are male and 47 % female. Through the area, the small Jugla flows; 54% of the area is forested.
