Uli Maslo

Uli Maslo ( born July 6, 1938 in Wattenscheid ) is a German football coach and former football player.

Player

His active career began Uli Maslo at SG Wattenscheid 09 1959 he moved to Rot-Weiss Essen and arrived there in three seasons at 14 games in which he scored four goals. 1962 Maslo joined the Dutch club HFC Haarlem.

Coach

From 1972 to 1977 Uli Maslo worked as a youth and assistant coach at FC Schalke 04 before he surprisingly became the successor of Friedel Rausch as Schalke head coach on December 21, 1977. At the end of the season 1977/78 Schalke finished in ninth place in the Bundesliga and the Treaty of Maslo was not renewed. After two brief interludes at Borussia Dortmund and Eintracht Braunschweig at four years it took Maslo on the Persian Gulf, where he coached teams from Bahrain and Qatar. His greatest successes, however, celebrated Maslo during his time at FC St. Pauli, with whom he was in 1995 promoted to the Bundesliga.

Last Uli Maslo worked as a contact man of the Qatar Football Association in Germany and caused a stir when he wanted to win the Brazilian striker Aílton for the Qatar national football team.

Game system

For most teams Uli Maslo preferred a 3-2-4-1 system. This defensive system was characterized in that the midfielder aufrückten immediately to support the strikers. Uli Maslo demanded from his players run a complicated system of paths. This system was considered one of the most elaborate systems of the nineties in the Bundesliga than most other teams in the league still played 3-1-4-2. Maslo was played by without full-back and with two peaks in a row. With this system, Uli Maslo managed to St. Pauli 1995/1996 to secure the league.
