Uliastai

Uliastai (Mongolian Улиастай ) is the capital of the Mongolian province Dsawchan in the western part of the country, about 1115 km from the capital Ulaanbaatar. With 24,276 inhabitants in 2000, the city was one of the ten largest in the country. In 2005, the population was only 15,742 inhabitants.

Traffic

Uliastai has an old and a new airport. The old airport has two unpaved airfields and was replaced by a new 30 km west of the city in 2002. This airport is called Donoi and is also guided in national schedules. From here, regular flights to Ulan Bator are entertained. Currently (April 2007) will be flown on Wednesdays and Saturdays, usually on Saturday with a stop at Tosontsengel.
