Ulla Burchardt

Ursula " Ulla " Burchardt ( born April 22, 1954 in Dortmund ) is a German politician (SPD). She is a lecturer at the TU Dortmund and works as a scientific and policy consultant. From 1990 to 2013, it was directly elected Members of the German Bundestag. 2005-2013 she was Chair of the Committee on Education, Research and Technology Assessment.

Life and career

After graduation in 1972 Ulla Burchardt holds a degree in education, social sciences and psychology in Bochum and Bielefeld, which she finished in 1977 as a graduate teacher. After that she worked as a youth education officer and since 1979 as a lecturer in adult education until 1978.

Ulla Burchardt lives in Dortmund and Berlin and has two daughters.

Party

Since 1976 she is a member of the SPD. It belongs to the Education Forum of the SPD Executive Committee and the Science Forum of the federal SPD and SPD in NRW.

Member of Parliament

From 1990 to 2013, and the first woman from Dortmund Ulla Burchardt was a member of the German Bundestag. Here she was from 1998 to 2002 chairman of the cross-sectional group Sustainable development of the SPD parliamentary group. From 1998 to 2005 she was deputy chairman of the Committee on Education, Research and Technology Assessment. From November 2005 she was chairman of this committee. Ulla Burchardt was also more than ten years chairman of the German - Italian Parliamentary Group.

Until 1998, Ulla Burchardt III was directly elected to the German Bundestag in the constituency Dortmund. After the election district reform in 2002, she won her seat in the newly formed constituency Dortmund II in the federal election in 2005, it reached 57.9 % of the primary vote here and was again confirmed as a Member of the German Bundestag. The direct mandate of their constituency they could defend in the general election in 2009 with 42.4 % of votes cast. Burchardt was in the summer of 2011, not to run for another term in Parliament. At the general election in 2013 Burchardt did not occur again.

The tunnel Berghofen ( B236n ) in Dortmund is called due to the use of the members of the Bundestag Burchardt for the construction of this underpass popularly known as " Ulla- tunnel ". Ulla Burchardt is also tunnel godmother.
