Ulla Lindkvist

Ulla Maria Lindkvist ( born August 30, 1939) is a former Swedish orienteer. It was 1966, the first individual world champion in orienteering at all. Overall, she won three world championship titles.

Lindkvist hatt to have an impressive career. With one exception, they could win a medal in all individual and relay starts at the European and World Championships as well as the Nordic championships. At the Nordic Championships 1961 in Tampere, she won her first medal ahead of her compatriot Siri Lundkvist. A relay competition has not yet been discharged. In 1962, she won the first individual title at Orienteering Championships when she could leave in the Norwegian Løten Økern Marit from Norway behind. The relay race, the 1962 was not yet an official part of the European Championship, won Lindkvist along with Siri Lundkvist and Emy Gauffin. Another time was in 1966 writing in Finnish Fiskari when she won the first individual World Cup titles Lindkvist. Lindkvist had their victory a lead of 7:45 minutes on the Swiss Katharina Perch -Nielsen. Two years later, she managed to defend the title. This time they had a lead of 5:40 minutes on Ingrid Hadler from Norway, their Dauerkonkurrentin at international events. In the relay with Gun -Britt and Kerstin Nyberg Granstedt she won silver behind the Norwegians. 1970 succeeded Hadler Lindkvist to second place to refer, for Lindkvist Season won gold with Birgitta Larsson and Eivor Steen- Olsson. At their last World Cup appearance in 1972 she missed the podium. With the season she finished second. The following year she also won for the fourth time in a row and the fifth time overall individual title at the Nordic Championships.

Lindkvist started for the club Tjärnen OK. In 1963 she was awarded the swimmer Ann -Christine Hagberg sportswoman of the year in Sweden.
