Ulldecona Dam

The dam Ulldecona ( Valencian Embassament d' Ulldecona or Pantà d' Ulldecona ) is located on the territory of the municipality of La Pobla de Benifassà in the comarca of Baix Maestrat the north of the province of Castellón, the Valencian Community to the east of the Cistercian monastery Benifassà.
It is located eight kilometers northwest of the town of La Senia at the meeting point of three Barranco Gorges, namely the gorges with the name Fou, Teulatí (or La Tenalla ) and Pobla. The year of the start of construction in 1967, and was completed in 1985 and the financing anxious farmers from Ulldecona the Catalan shore of Riu de la Senia on an area of 817 hectares with a capacity of 11 million m³. The weight of the dam is 54 m high and 180 m wide.
The dam is owned by the Water Board Júcar.
In spring, summer and autumn, the dam is Ulldecona tourist destination. There are accommodation facilities and restaurants as well as boat and pedal boat rental. From the lake offers views of the surrounding limestone mountains. On the northwest shore lies the abandoned village of Mala Graner.
