Ullmann's Encyclopedia of Industrial Chemistry

Ullmann's Encyclopedia of Industrial Chemistry is a lexicon of technical chemistry as well as related fields such as biotechnology, materials science, analysis or environmental protection. The first edition was published in 1914-1922 by Fritz Ullmann twelve -volume work. The last German edition ( 4th edition ) comprised 25 volumes and the 5th (in English) edition, entitled Ullmann's Encyclopedia of Industrial Chemistry, which was completed in 1996, 36 volumes. They were divided into seven volumes with general articles, twenty-eight lexical volumes and an index volume.

The " Ullmann " is a classic multi- author work. For the fifth edition of 3,000 international authors from universities and especially from industry have participated. In December 2002, the sixth edition was published in 40 volumes. The 7th edition is printed in turn comprise 40 volumes and appear in mid- 2014. It is to be expected that in the new edition, more than 80 % of the posts are updated.

Since the fifth edition of " Ullmann " is also available electronically (DVD and the internet ). Use for both versions is valid for one calendar year. With the purchase of the DVD, the user will also receive free access to the online version, the updates appear quarterly.

The last responsible chief editor was Dr. Hubert Pelc, former editorial director of the DECHEMA Society for Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology eV in Frankfurt am Main.
