Ulrich Eicke

Ulrich " Uli " Eicke ( born February 18, 1952 in Wuppertal ) is a former German canoeist. He took in 1976 and 1984 for the Federal Republic of Germany at the Olympic Games and won 41 German titles. Eicke began his career at the Canoe Sports Community Wuppertal, during his career he started for the WSV Rhine Dusseldorf loyalty. Eicke lives in Dusseldorf.

Sports career

At the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal was Ulrich Eicke eighth in the one - Canadians both over 500 meters and 1000 meters. 1977 and 1979 he won the World Championship silver medalist over 500 meters. After the Olympics boycott in 1980, he temporarily lost the motivation for high performance sport and focused more on his teaching degree.

1983 returned Eicke as World Cup fifth place in the world-class back. At the Olympic Games in 1984, Eicke looked after the boycott of the Warsaw Pact suddenly in a Mitfavoritenposition. Dragon Boat

Eicke was one of the protagonists of the dragon boat sport in Germany. After the interim building a team in Dusseldorf in 1991, he participated in the founding of one of the later successful German team, the drag Attack teams Wuppertal and was with this in 1996 and 1997 German and European champions. Since 1996 he has been involved in the organization of the Düsseldorf Dragon Boat Regatta.

Professional career

Following his Olympic victory Eicke tried a career as a musician. Its title, " Hey, we're all okay," but was not a sales success.

From 1987 to 1995 Ulrich Eicke was head of the National Training Center Cologne -Bonn- Leverkusen. From 1995 to 2008 he was in the teaching profession and taught the subjects of sports and mathematics. Since 2006 he has worked as a medical practitioner and works according to the principles developed by Walter Packi Biokinematik.
