Ulrich Körner (born 1962 ) is Chief Executive Officer Global Asset Management, Chief Executive Officer UBS Group EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa ) and member of the Group Executive Board of UBS.

Training

Grains holds a Master of Arts in Business Administration and received his Ph.D. degree in the same subject at the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland.

Career

After completing his studies, he began his professional career in 1989 as an auditor with Price Waterhouse, Zurich. From 1993 to 1998 grains worked as a management consultant with McKinsey & Company in Zurich. Grains joined Credit Suisse in 1998 as Chief Financial Officer for Switzerland and was two years later Head of Technology and Services, 2002 before he took over the role of Chief Financial Officer of Credit Suisse. In addition to this role, he was Chief Operating Officer in 2004. In 2006 he assumed the position of Chief Executive Officer of Credit Suisse Switzerland. Grains was a member of the Executive Board of Credit Suisse to joining UBS.

In April 2009 grains moved as Group Chief Operating Officer and Member of the Group Executive Board at UBS. In his role as Group Chief Operating Officer, he was until 2013 responsible for the corporate center with more than 25,000 employees, which at that time the areas of Group Strategy, Human Resources, Group Technology, Group Operations, Communications and Branding, Corporate Real Estate and Administrative Services and Supply and Demand management included. In January 2014 grains took over as Chief Executive Officer, Head of Asset Management UBS, while Tom Naratil, additional exercises to his role as Chief Financial Officer, the role of Chief Operating Officer.

Grains is also Chief Executive Officer since December UBS Group EMEA 2011, with locations in 29 countries. Together with the divisional Chief Executive Officer he is responsible for the implementation of the regional strategy and cooperation across all divisions.

Mandates

Ulrich Körner is Vice President of the Executive Committee of the Swiss Bankers Association, President of the Widder Hotel in Zurich and Vice Chairman of the Board of the Lyceum Alpinum Zuoz. He is Deputy Chairman of the Supervisory Board of UBS Germany AG, Chairman of the Board of the UBS Pension Fund, member of the Financial Services Chapter Board of the Swiss- American Chamber of Commerce, Member of the Advisory Board at the Institute of Banking and Finance at the University of Zurich and a member of the Economic Advisory Board of the Laureus Foundation Switzerland.

He was a Director of Winterthur Group, AXA Leben AG and AXA Insurance Ltd and Clariden Leu AG and Bank Leu AG. As a representative of UBS Swiss politician, he advised both in terms of Aufspaltbarkeit of big banks and in terms of the strategy for the future of the Swiss financial center.

Private life

Ulrich Körner was born in 1962 in Germany and has both the German and the Swiss citizenship. He lives in Zurich and has three children.
