Ulrich Leyendecker

Ulrich Leyendecker ( born January 29, 1946 in Wuppertal ) is a German composer.

Life

After his first composition lessons with Ingo Schmitt 1962 to 1965 he studied until 1970 composition at the Musikhochschule in Cologne with Rudolf Petzold and piano with Günter Ludwig. In 1968 he was a fellow of the German National Academic Foundation, as of 1971 professor of theory at the Musikhochschule Hamburg. In 1974 he received the Prize of North Rhine- Westphalia for music, the 1978/79 followed by a year's stay at the Villa Massimo.

From 1981 he was professor of composition and theory at the Musikhochschule Hamburg. The years 1984 and 1985 he spent in Paris with a scholarship for the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris. Since 1986 he has been a member of the Free Academy of the Arts in Hamburg. 1987 awarded him the city of Wuppertal the Von-der- Heydt - Price

In 1994 he moved from Hamburg to the professor of composition at the Musikhochschule Mannheim, he is since 1997 member of the Free Academy of the Arts Mannheim. 2001/ 02 he received a scholarship again for the Cité Internationale des Arts, Paris.

Since 2005 he works as a freelance composer.
