Ulrich Schindel

Ulrich Schindel ( born September 10, 1935 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German classical scholar.

After studying classical philology In 1961 he was working with a doctorate " Demosthenes in the 18th Century" at the University of Göttingen. After his habilitation in 1971, he was appointed associate professor in 1974 and took over in 1976 as the successor of Judge Will the Department of Latin Studies in Göttingen, where he remained until his retirement in 2003.

Shingle deals with the history of classical philology, with the tradition and history of Latin and Greek grammar and rhetoric, with the reception of ancient literature as well as with Greek eloquence and Law.

Shingle is since 1986 member of the Academy of Sciences in Göttingen, the Mommsen -Gesellschaft, the German Altphilologenverbandes and Brunswick Scientific Society.
