Ulster Special Constabulary

The Ulster Special Constabulary (USC ) were a paramilitary auxiliary force in Northern Ireland which was founded by the British in 1920. These auxiliary troops of the Northern Ireland Police Royal Ulster Constabulary recruited almost exclusively from Protestants of the Orange Order.

The USC was divided into three departments, the A-, B- and C- specials. After the Boundary Commission, the A and C Specials were disbanded in 1926. The B- Specials existed even further to 30 April 1970 and this unit was finally disbanded.
