Umbrella ( German umbrella ) is a program written by The-Dream, Christopher Stewart, Thaddis " Kuk " Harrell and Jay -Z song for the Barbadian R & B singer Rihanna, Jay -Z grossed him with the American hip- hop artist.

The song was released as the first single from Rihanna's third studio album, Good Girl Gone Bad on 29 March 2007 and was a huge success worldwide. Producer of the single was Christopher Stewart. The piece is a pop song with influences from R & B, dance-pop and hip hop.

Due to the worldwide success of Umbrella Def Jam produced five new versions of the song with Rihanna, which she sang at the 2007 MTV Movie Awards. In 2009 they had a cover version of the song by The Baseballs. Umbrella is included, including the music videos in the karaoke video games SingStar Pop Volume 2 and Lips. A cover version of the song is included in the game Dance Dance Revolution Hottest Party 2. In the episode The Substitute the second season of the television series Glee on the performer sang along with guest actress Gwyneth Paltrow a mashup of Umbrella and Singing in the Rain by Gene Kelly.
