The Umpfer is just 21.5 km long left tributary of the Tauber in Baden- Württemberg.

Geography

Course

The Umpfer created in maple forest northwest of the village Boxberger Gräff rings and initially flows to the southeast. They (all the city Boxberg ) attracts Uiffingen, Wölchingen and Boxberg past and turns here to the northeast. In the new direction they crossed Schweigern and happened Unterschüpf (both to Boxberg ) and finally passes over on area of Lauda- Königshofen. There she touched yet Sachsenflur before it flows into Königshofen in the Tauber.

Catchment area

The Umpfer has a catchment area of approximately 120 km ², (all to Boxberg ) includes ( Bad Mergentheim ) except the mentioned towns, nor the villages Angeltürn, Bobstadt, Epplingen, Kupprichhausen, Lengenbach vineyards, Oberschüpf, pelvic stone ( to Lauda- Königshofen ) and Dainbach. In the south and west it borders on the Jagst, on the northwest by the the Erfa, otherwise compete other tributaries of the Tauber. The most important tributary is the 12 km long Schüpfbach at Unterschüpf, its catchment area contributes about a quarter of the Umpfer at.

Water quality

The Umpfer was burdened with excessive level of 2004 recognized all over her for this run from about Wölchingen to the mouth (class II ), as did the tapering in Unterschüpf Schüpfbach from about Kupprichhausen.

Traffic

The relatively wide Umpfertal, together with Kirnau and Kessach a convenient connection between the deaf and the lower Jagst and thus also between the metropolitan areas around Würzburg and Heilbronn. The Franks railway runs through it along its entire length, the B 292 between Königshofen and Wölchingen.
