UMuziwabantu Local Municipality

UMuziwabantu (also Umuziwabantu, Eng. uMuziwabantu Local Municipality ) is a South African community in the district of Ugu, KwaZulu -Natal. The administrative center is Harding. Dumile Abednigo Ngubo is the mayor. The ANC represents the majority in the City Council.
The name of the village comes from the Zulu term for a house with open doors for everyone '. 2007, the municipality had 104 527 inhabitants according to projections.
UMuziwabantu lies in the west of the district and is bounded on the north, west and south by the Eastern Cape Province and on the east by the municipalities of Umzumbe and Ezinqoleni. uMuziwabantu lies at the foot of the mountains and the Ingeli Umtamvuna River forms the southern boundary. The municipality covers an area of 1089 square kilometers.
UMuziwabantu is a rural community. Harding is the only urban developed area. Much of the community is one of the six - Traditional Authority areas. More than half of its territory to be used as agricultural land primarily as farmland and timberland. The most important places in the community are Harding, Weza and Nhlangwini.
The main pillars of the economy in uMuziwabantu are agriculture and tourism.
In the municipality of various timber species are cultivated: acacia, eucalyptus, pines and poplars. To the cultivation of wood, a processing industry has settled.
UMuziwabantu offers different habitats and Veldarten that are of particular interest for ecotourism. The rare steel Swallow breeds in the engineers mountains. The industry, however, has much untapped potential in uMuziwabantu.
