UN-Energy
UN-Energy is a mechanism in the United Nations system in the field of energy. It was founded on up to the World Summit on Sustainable Development (WSSD ) in Johannesburg in 2002. Its purpose is, especially to enforce a consistent approach for a sustainable energy system in developing countries to achieve the Millennium Development Goals.
To achieve this, assessed UN-Energy energy-related activities within the UN system and tries to unify. Currently, UN-Energy, a very small unit in the UN, it has not even reached the status of a program.
Current Chairman of UN-Energy is Kandeh Yumkella, Director-General of the UN Industrial Development Organization UNIDO.
