Unakite

Unakite is a rock, which is composed of the minerals epidote, feldspar and quartz. It is green and pink color and hydrothermally formed by metasomatism, ie by conversion, displacement or replacement of rock constituents. The cataclastic granite bedrock was provided through a process that is called Propylitisierung with a significant Epidotgehalt.

Decorative arts and crafts applications are not well known in Central Europe. In the U.S. there are occasional minor representative applications.

Unakite is often sold in Germany as Jaspisimitat under the name Blumenjaspis as jewelry or healing stone.
