Unary coding

The BCD count code encodes a decimal digit in binary representation, in contrast to the BCD code Here has is value of one.

Areas of application

The BCD counting code finds its use mainly in the control of machines. Similar to the Gray code occur here due to its cyclicness ( Hamming distance = 1) No jump errors. Jump error means that when switching a state in the next more than one bit needs to be changed as, but that in most cases can only run sequentially and therefore an irregular intermediate state is achieved temporarily, the should be avoided. For this reason, the very high redundancy of the code ( 6.7 ) is taken into account.
