This was in January of the same year, even while Lovato was in a hospital, a song posted on the Internet, the he would like to record their next album with her. This action just moved in the U.S. a lot of media attention. About the collaboration with Missy Elliott, which can be heard on the common track Lovato and Timbaland, Lovato said that this was not planned from the outset. The rapper would have been random in the studio and had " simply asked if she could rap to ." In a radio interview with Ryan Seacrest, in which their first single " Skyscraper " was introduced, Lovato confirmed that on her album an R & B singer was, however, they could not reveal the name of the artist for contractual reasons. Consequently, there was speculation in the media about Justin Bieber and Chris Brown, but ultimately turned out that it is Jason DeRulo and Iyaz. Rumors that they sing a duet with her idol Kelly Clarkson, Lovato denied in the same interview, however. Ryan Tedder, with whom she recorded the song " Who's That Boy", said of the shooting with her that she " has completely surprised him. I had no idea how good her voice is. She is one of the best singers I've ever worked with. I mean, she is vocally on a level with Kelly Clarkson. And Kelly has a really good voice. " Your feelings on forthcoming release of their third studio album commented Lovato as well. They described the emergence of the CD as " exciting " and also said that she was indeed nervous, but excited. [Note 2]

Music style

Already in July 2010, Lovato said that her new album is not entirely up to the pop music, but more R & B- oriented will be. Even less influences from rock music were to be expected. She called, among other things Rihanna and Keri Hilson as inspiration. Guest contributions from artists such as rapper Missy Elliot, the R & B musicians Jason DeRulo and Iyaz and Dev also contributed to a change of style. In July 2011, Lovato described himself that the sound of her new album will be " more mature, but also more fun and easier ." Not all songs have the intensity of " Skyscraper ". The track " All Night Long " on which they can be heard along with the duo Timbaland and Missy Elliot, was " flirtatious and fun, not too mature, but mature enough, and thus the exact opposite of Skyscraper ." For the recording of the album Lovato, decided to collaborate with other music producers and songwriters and work on their sound. While their previous albums were mainly produced by the Jonas Brothers and John Fields, they had no more influence in the development of their third studio album. For this, they collaborated with rock Mafia, Ryan Tedder and Timbaland, the latter is known for its strong hip-hop and R & B- oriented style. Even while writing the songs themselves Lovato changed, it is for example in only five of the 14 songs listed as a songwriter, while she was involved with the albums Here We Go Again, and Do not Forget at almost all the songs on the writing process. Overall, the sound of the album has been produced very radiofreunlich, the song " Skyscraper " is the first of the artist that has ever been played at the Contemporary Hit Radio.
