UN/CEFACT

UN / CEFACT is the United Nations Centre for Trade Facilitation and Electronic Business, that is, the United Nations Centre for Trade Facilitation and Electronic Business Processes. The abbreviation comes from the original French name CEFACT Centre pour la facilitation of Procédures et des pratiques dans l' administration, le commerce et les transports, which can be translated roughly with the center for the facilitation of procedures and practices in administration, commerce and transport.

CEFACT was established in 1996, is the UNECE affiliated and how this has its headquarters in Geneva. Members are UN member states, intergovernmental organizations (such as the EU) and industry and trade associations. The aim of CEFACT is the promotion, simplification and harmonization of international trade.

CEFACT will also be responsible for international data standard EDIFACT and one of the initiators of ebXML.
