Uncle Tom

As Uncle Tom (English for Uncle Tom) African Americans are pejoratively referred to voluntarily submit to a white person in authority. This term comes from the title character of the novel Uncle Tom's Cabin (English Uncle Tom's Cabin) by Harriet Beecher Stowe, although it is being debated whether the main character itself behaves in such a manner.

In the American civil rights movement, this term was often used for moderate civil rights spokesman. Among others, Booker T. Washington WEB Du Bois and Martin Luther King, Malcolm X referred to as Uncle Tom. The film Addio Onkel Tom also alludes to this term use.
