Background

Despite the mediocre commercial success of its predecessor Bongo Girl of 1992 and the consequent loss of the record deal with Epic Records, the album was recorded with the same core cast. In addition to Rolf Brendel and Frank Becking reinforced Carlo Karges, Mary Applegate and Bayer Thommie the composer team. Also Jürgen Dehmel was committed on bass again. As an additional musician Curt Cress are on drums and session musician Mark Dehl and Gustl Lütjens on guitar and Andrew Lucas, Carmelo Mafali, Checked Straub and Tommy Schmidt on keyboards on the album here. The album was recorded at the Dolphin Studio in Mörfelden, produced by Gunther Mende and published by RMG. It is Nena's only album in this small German label Bernd Reisig, where also Thommie Bayer albums published. More Albums released after a new record deal with music label Polydor.

Reception

Alan Severa of Allmusic awarded three stars out of five. He sees no tape revival, despite the accumulation of former companion of the Nena band in the album. The light atmosphere on Bongo Girl soft a quiet sense of melancholy ( "the lightweight atmosphere of her previous album, Bongo Girl, is Followed by a calm sense of melancholy ").
