Undiscovered Soul is the second solo album by Richie Sambora, the guitarist of the band Bon Jovi.

Music style

The sound of the album is very experimental and the songs can not be assigned to all the only one style. The album contains ballads ( All That Really Matters ), hard rock ( Who I Am), arena rock ( Hard Times Come Easy ), and blues-rock numbers ( Harlem Rain).

Although reviews praise the skills Richie Sambor as a guitarist and songwriter, but miss one or two catchy chorus. The fans but like the album a lot when Richie Sambora also with the album was able to gain hardly new, since the great success failed to materialize.

Formation

After the world tour for band album These Days from 1995 to 1996, the band paused again, so the band members could devote their solo projects. Jon Bon Jovi also released a solo album and worked as an actor. Richie Sambora also has worked as he was father in 1997, on a solo album.

Song information

Being single is Hard Times Come Easy was able to place in the U.S. only in the mainstream rock charts ( at number 39). The album's success was generally in the U.S. is much lower than that of Stranger in This Town, while in Europe, Undiscovered Soul has gone into even more countries in the charts, though not very successful.

The different lengths of the two album versions only come with Fallen from Graceland and Undiscovered Soul by significant differences of the song. Thus, the Japanese version of Fallen from Graceland is slower than the standard version and has twice the same chorus, the standard version of the first chorus is shorter, the second corresponds to the Japanese version. The song Undiscovered Soul has in the Japanese version even a guitar solo and a part of the chorus is repeated once more.

The other songs are slightly different in the speed and instrumentation. Likewise, the song All That Really Matters, which, however lyrically differs in the first stanza. The version of track 5 is similar to the standard version of the very strong track 8 of the Japanese version. The last track on the Japanese album contains again another verse and chorus of the song, but is completely different instrumented. The verse begins similarly, but resolved completely different. However, the whole thing is just over two minutes, the rest of the five minutes you can hear just how Richie Sambora says in a loop You're not alone.
