Unga Iceland is the largest island of the Alaska Peninsula upstream Shumagin Islands in the Gulf of Alaska.

Unga Iceland was reported in 1968 as a National Natural Landmark. Petrified trees on the coast of the island are the remains of the prehistoric world and coastal redwood trees that were buried in the Tertiary volcanic ash. They are of scientific importance because of their significance with respect to the hiking over the Beringia land bridge between Asia and North America and the climate in Aleutenbogen for the human colonization of Alaska.

The name of the Aleutian Islands to the island was recorded in 1827 by Adam Johann von Krusenstern of the Imperial Russian Army as " Ounga ". From Innokenty Weniaminow (1797-1879), a Russian Orthodox priest who evangelized the Aleut population, in 1840, the name " O ( strov ) Unga " has been documented.
