Union County (Tennessee)

Union County is a county located in the state of Tennessee in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Maynardville.

Geography

The County is located in northeast Tennessee, is located in the north about 40 km from the southwestern tip of Virginia and has an area of 640 square kilometers, of which 61 square kilometers are water surface. History

Union County was formed on January 3, 1850 from parts of Anderson County, Campbell County, Claiborne County, Grainger County and Knox County. It was named for Union membership at the outbreak of the debates on secession because of desire.
